The Four Seasons Project

Four corners, Four seasons

A spring picnic on a green field, the flowers we crushed, the insects we trapped under our plastic cover. Birds sing along a constant electric hiss. We play.

Dry land exercise on a sand quarry by the river. We found some sand they did not take and an old fridge, an uncanny finding. Wind and a scorching sun, the river-water is ankle high. We will dive in what is left of the sand. We dream.

The forest has grown back, now that people left for the cities. A marvelous oak is shedding its leaves, mushrooms appear all over. The air is musty. Entering a forest often feels like getting immersed in a marine environment.
And now, a little before sunset, the sky is heavy, but the storm has passed. All is calm, the water, the wind. Frogs are croaking, spring is coming. An alchemic amalgamation of it all, the light, reflected on the lake, on our skin. We did not want to leave tonight…
Our stories, stories of alienation, dreams of connection, with each other, with the trees, the water, the sky, the earth, the passing of the seasons.

About

This work wants to point to the creativity of humans who – as all living organisms- are capable of reinventing excess and waste through their own agentivity. Completing a cycle (of discovery?) mankind can possibly find again, a symbiotic relation to its earthly environment.
Four color photographs, dedicated to Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, contain stories, dreams, nightmares, reflections, in which we investigate contradictions inside our synthetic environmental bubble, our seemingly natural environment – exceedingly filled with the obscure side
of the desires of our commodity civilization, desires acted out in repeated, everyday rituals.

Four black and white photographs of our chosen sites, signify a before humanity’s “Great Conquest” of the mysterious wilderness, a before -even- of humankind.
